We all met up behind
Barnhill's Buffet. For Future reference, its off of Radio Road. We had
about 6 V-Maxes and 3 "Howsmycaboosa's" and one Venture show up
for the ride.
We opted to
cut the ride a little short as one lowered V-Max struck a curb on the way
to meet up with us and developed an oil leak.
We took a nice leisurely ride
over to my house and we showed off the Fuel Injection project Eric Harnish
and I have been working on. Later, I fired up the BBQ grill and Dick
Laplant played chef while I help the wife dole out the fixing's. We was
joined by a few more members and friends for a while.
After the late lunch we all suited up for the "NON
VMOA" ride back. We were joined with a Kawasaki ZX7R. As we departed
Inverness, we started chomping at the bit when the road widened from 2
lanes into 4. It was time to wick it up. Just as I was about to do some
passing, I spotted one of Florida's finest with someone pulled over to
receive a driving certificate. I looked in the rear view and all I could
see was exhaust fumes and rapidly nearing head lights. The Trooper must
have heard
the commotion, which I am sure sounded like mad grizzly bears attacking a
bee hive. This brought on a very hard look. Once he was
out of site but not ear shot, it was game on! We followed Eric and turned
down a long straight road. The rest of the ride, I watched the Busa's and
V-Maxes mix it up for some very long straight stretches.
We
made it back to Leesburg and said adios. All in all, I had a great day.
Watching Eric and Thadd ride by like a bullet was entertaining. Even the
guy with the oil leak was giving it hell. The turn out was more than what
I had expected. Makes me feel like we should do it more often when you
have good times like these.
